UPCOMING EVENTS

Do Unemployment Benefits Make You Lazy?

When: Wednesday 5th February, 5 pm

This is The Buchanan Institute's first discussion, led by Dr. Jan Eichhorn, founder of d-part think tank. This is a hot current topic, in the context of the Coalition Government's Welfare Reform agenda, growing public scepticism to benefit recipients and the controversial T.V. programme 'Benefits Street'.

This will be about taking a step back from the media and popular perception to see what the evidence says. Armed with the evidence we can work out what should be done in unemployment policy.

Free beer and wine will be provided.

CONFERENCE – 'The Doors of Legalisation: Drug Policy in Need of Reform?'

When: Saturday the 1st of March, 2-6 pm

Where: Rainy Hall, New College

Our first conference will be on the topic of drug policy reform. The conference will be structured through a series of talks and panel discussions with high-profile speakers, ranging from public figures, academics, scientists, politicians and policy makers.
